Clean Transportation Plan; Save the Trans Canada Trail
Some progress to report!
The BC Government has committed to include cycling as part of Clean Transportation Systems process in 2019. As well, resolutions supporting an Active Transportation Strategy and improvements to the Motor Vehicle Act will be voted on at the Union of BC Municipalities conference in mid September. More on this in the next email.
Clean Transportation Consultation
The BC Government is asking for input on Clean Transportation as part of its Clean Growth Futures plan. The deadline is 4pm on August 24.
Unfortunately, the current consultation paper barely mentions cycling and has nothing on incentives for bicycles, electric bicycles or cargo bikes while proposing expensive subsidies for private electric vehicles.
Please let them know you want them to invest more in bike networks and provide financial incentives including rebates and low cost loans for bicycles, electric bikes and cargo bikes as well as eliminating the PST on electric bikes:
You can email submissions to: email@example.com
Send a message to the Premier on rebates for electric bikes at: https://www.bccc.bc.ca/electric

Make the KVR a Great Trail for Cycling
The Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA) is seeking input for developing a plan to make a large section of the Kettle Valley Railway KVR into a world class destination trail. Please take their survey. Let them know you want the KVR to a great experience for people cycling.
